Six Book Challenge | 13 February 2013

Some great launches of the new season!

In Leeds, rugby league championJamie Jones-Buchanan, England International and Leeds Rhinos star, set the ball rolling to launch the partnership with the Rugby League World Cup 2013.

And, in Southend, the Library Service are teaming up with Southend United Football Club, including a launch event on 21 Feb, which will be attended by both of Southend United’s mascots, Elvis J Eel and Sammy the Shrimp!

MANIL 2012 - Devon Libraries | 17 May 2012

Devon have agreed an itinerary for both Devon In Sight and Action for Blind People to be jointly available at several libraries during MANIL. Abigail Jones from ABP and Ben Gavan from Devon In Sight will be demonstrating accessible technology and promoting their respective services. Library staff will also attend at least some of the sessions to go through "Your Reading Choices" with customers.

Monday 11th June 2pm-4pm Exeter Central Library
Thursday 14th June 10am-12noon Kingsbridge Library
Thursday 14th June 2pm-4pm Tavistock Library.

MANIL 2012 - Southend Libraries | 17 May 2012

Southend Libraries have put together an exciting programme of free events to tie in with this year’s Make a Noise in Libraries Fortnight (MANIL) which runs from 11 - 24 June 2012. They have also issued a press release with further info.

MANIL 2012 - Dudley Libraries | 17 May 2012

Dudley have organised a programme of information events.

They have also organised a training session for staff from their Vision support team, and have organised a visit from a poet to do a performance workshop at a visually impaired day centre.

Libraries will also be supporting with MANIL posters and bookmarks with talking books and large print in an area of the library away from the usual area where they are shelved to raise awareness.

"The CILIP Libraries Change Lives Award is a nationally recognised award that highlights outstanding partnership work involving library staff and services that have changed lives.
