Cancer care support and information | 23 January 2013

Devon Libraries are working in partnership with the Peninsula Cancer Network, Macmillan, CAB, North Devon District Hospital and FORCEto offer a range of cancer information and support for people in North Devon. The libraries directly involved are Barnstaple, Bideford, Holsworthy and Ilfracombe.

These libraries all offer special book collections about cancer along with staff support when possible to access and use online information such as the Macmillan website and NHS Choices.

In addition the following libraries are hosting monthly CAB/Macmillan advice sessions aimed at supporting people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses by offering free guidance on subjects such as debt, welfare and insurance.

Welcome To Your Library - Essex County Council | 24 September 2012

This welcome guide was a joint project between Essex Libraries, Maldon and Dengie Local Action group (one of 12 groups in Essex which help plan services for young people and adults with a learning disability), and TMHS (Tendring Mental Health Support) Independent Advocacy project. Initially people with a learning disability visited local libraries and shared their experiences. They then worked with a member of library staff and advocacy support to put together this welcome guide. The ICE (Inclusive Communication Essex ) project advised on Easy Read and making the guide accessible. The guide is given to new library members and promoted to local groups.
