Lost in information? Syrian new Scots' information literacy way-finding practices. [Project]
"Lost in Information was a five-month project funded by the Information Literacy Group of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), which ran from October 2016 through February 2017. The project aimed to examine the information-related experiences and information literacy practices of Syrian refugees in Scotland ("Syrian new Scots") during their resettlement and integration. In particular, the research focused on Syrian new Scots' "ways of knowing" critical information for social inclusion (e.g. housing, welfare, education, employment), the barriers and enablers to obtaining this information, and potential opportunities for further support in helping this community to integrate into Scottish society. The research was conducted through interviews with representatives of the Scottish Refugee Council and focus groups of Syrian new Scots, and was led by Konstantina Martzoukou and Simon Burnett of RGU's iSchool."
